Review your IFTA report
Last updated 25 days ago
Your IFTA report is built from the mileage and fuel records for the selected quarter. If a number looks incorrect, start by reviewing those records.
Navigate to the IFTA Calculator, select a quarter, and open the IFTA Report tab.

For each jurisdiction where your fleet drove or purchased fuel, the report shows:
Total miles and Taxable miles
Taxable gallons β the fuel the IFTA Calculator calculates your fleet used in that jurisdiction based on its mileage and fleet average MPG
Tax-Paid gallons β the fuel purchases you recorded as tax-paid in that jurisdiction
Net Taxable gallons and the resulting Tax or Credit Due
Your average Fleet MPG is shown at the top of the report.
You can also select a single vehicle from the filter to review its numbers.
The report still uses your fleet's average MPG, so changes made to one vehicle's mileage or fuel records can affect the calculated values shown for another.
Note
Fleet MPG is a useful sanity check. For most diesel fleets, it's usually in the single digits. If yours looks unusually high or low, review your mileage and fuel records before relying on the report.
Note
A negative Net Taxable Gallons or Tax or Credit Due usually means you've earned a fuel tax credit because you purchased more tax-paid fuel than you burned in that jurisdiction.
Some jurisdictions, such as Kentucky or Virginia, also charge a surcharge. Unlike fuel tax, a surcharge is based on fuel used in the jurisdiction rather than fuel purchased there. It appears as a separate line and is always owedβit never becomes a credit.
Mark a quarter as filed
After you've successfully filed your IFTA return through your base jurisdiction's portal, click I've filed this quarter.

Marking a quarter as filed is for your own tracking only. It doesn't submit anything to your state portal or to IFTA, Inc.
You can continue editing mileage and fuel records after marking a quarter as filed. If you make changes afterward, review your report again before relying on the updated numbers.
